Aeroflot, S7, Azur Air, and Rossiya to suspend international flights

Aeroflot, S7, Azur Air and Rossiya have announced the suspension of all international flights to and from Russia, with one exception: Belarus.

Aeroflot, Russia’s flagship carrier, announces that it will halt all international flights except to Belarus starting March 8. The airline will offer all passengers an involuntary refund.

S7, Russia’s second largest airline, is also cancelling all international flights starting March 5, with the exception of Belarus. S7 said that passengers can apply for a complete refund for flights they have booked.

Azur Air, Russia’s largest charter airline and Rossiya, which is part of the Aeroflot group followed in the steps of S7 and Aeroflot.

The airlines have been hit hard by sanctions from the European Union, including a complete ban on using its airspace for commercial flights by any Russian carrier.

Aircraft leasing firms are set to terminate hundreds of leases with Russian airlines following Western sanctions over the invasion of Ukraine by March 28.
